Summary
An RFDS King Air B200 experienced a right engine failure immediately after take-off from Dubbo Airport. The crew executed the single-engine procedure, returned to the circuit and landed without incident. One medical patient and two paramedics were on board; all were uninjured. The aircraft was taken out of service for investigation.
Investigation Findings (4)
- 01Preliminary borescope inspection revealed a fractured third-stage turbine blade in the right PT6A-52 engine.
- 02The engine had accumulated 2,745 hours since last hot section inspection; the scheduled interval is 3,000 hours.
- 03No earlier indication of distress was noted in engine trend monitoring data.
- 04Investigation is ongoing; Pratt & Whitney Canada has been notified.
