Summary
A dual training flight in a Robinson R22 Beta II resulted in a low-G push-over during an autorotation exercise, causing mast bumping. The rotor struck the fuselage and the aircraft descended rapidly, striking the ground. The instructor and student sustained serious injuries. The aircraft was destroyed.

- 02Data from the HUMS recorder suggests a low-G condition developed for approximately 0.8 seconds during the exercise.
- 03Both Robinson RHC Safety Course alerts and the POH warnings regarding low-G operations were reviewed.
- 04ATSB has issued a safety advisory to all Robinson R22 operators and flight training organisations.
