Summary

During solo student taxi operations at Archerfield Airport, a Brisbane Aviation College Cessna 172 collided with a privately operated Beechcraft Bonanza on the General Aviation parking apron. The Cessna's right wingtip struck the Bonanza's rudder. No injuries. Minor damage to both aircraft.

Investigation Findings (4)

  1. 01The student pilot was unfamiliar with the non-standard taxi route required due to apron construction works.
  2. 02Non-standard taxi routes were notified by NOTAM but not adequately briefed by the supervising instructor.
  3. 03Poor sight lines due to temporarily displaced tie-down equipment contributed to the student not seeing the parked aircraft.
  4. 04Archerfield Airport management subsequently amended the NOTAM to include a diagram of the temporary taxi route.
